I wanted to provide you an update regarding robbery, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. This is to inform you that there has been an increase in robberies in the N11 and N12 areas of the ward.
Your team are aware and are carrying out follow-up investigation and proactive patrols to catch those responsible.
Some crime prevention tips below:
Please be vigilant when in a crowded place. Look out for people who get too close to you in a crowded place.
Never keep your bag or rucksack unzipped and carry your bag in front preferably diagonally across your body.
Thieves are increasingly stealing phones from people as they use them. Often thieves may be on a bike or moped.
When using your phone in the street be aware of your surroundings. Look out for anyone nearby on a bike or a moped and don't use it if you feel unsafe. When you've finished using it, put it away.
If you have to use your phone on the street step back from the kerb and if possible, stand with your back to a wall or building so that thieves can't approach from behind.
Many thanks.
We will continue to tackle robbery in your local area. While we are investigating and arresting those responsible, please consider following the below advice to keep yourself and your property safe: Do not leave your phone, tablet or other digital goods unattended, out of sight or on a table. Be aware of your surroundings and only use your phone when it is safe to do so. Put your phone away when you have finished using it. Secure your phone by choosing a strong pin or password Keep a note of your IMEU number (to access, type *#06# on your phone keypad) Plan your route, especially if you are going somewhere you have not been before. Keep to busy, well-lit streets and walkways. Move with purpose and appear confident.
